Lassie's girlfriend, Bea, ghosted her recently.

And she thinks that it was all her fault. 

She thinks that it was because of that argument they had recently.  The argument they had about if they should leave their dead-end town behind or not.  Their town is a bigoted wasteland, festering with bigots who love to treat queers like dirt. 

Lassie wanted to run away with her, but Bea wanted to stay.  Bea believed that she and the other queers could stand their ground somehow and turn things around for the better, but Lassie wasn't taking her chances.

Now without Bea in her life, running away is meaningless. Life is meaningless, and she doesn't know what to do with herself anymore.

One night after work, with the possible intent of ending it all, Lassie hops into a taxi with a shady taxi driver named Maurice, who takes her on a deadly late night journey that will change her life forever.
